The 2013 Golden Globes Awards was one of the most fashionable events that will take place this year. The pre-show in particular was a much-needed overdose of trends and gorgeous dresses for a couture junkie like me. I decided that if I can’t buy couture (yet), that doesn’t mean I can’t study it! And the two hours I spent ogling celebrities during the Golden Globes definitely counts. What did I gather? The red carpet isn’t the only thing that is sizzling this spring season. From strapless tops to plunging necklines, the trendiest celebrity women were dawning red-hot looks for the event.
I feel like Claire Danes was the woman of the night with her recent baby being born and her amazing role in Homeland being recognized. For giving birth in December, only one month ago, the woman looked ridiculously stunning in her slinky, red Versace dress. Whatever you are doing, Claire, keep it up! The color of power was the perfect choice to be wearing when she accepted her award for Best Actress in a TV Drama.
Jennifer Lawrence, nominated for her role in Silver Lining’s Playbook, was suffering from the flu, yet still dropped jaws in her strapless, red Christian Dior gown. The silver hardware belt at her waist was the perfect addition, pulling the entire dress together. Although her voluptuous body is hard to take your eyes off of, her awkward comment about beating Meryl Streep did just that! The media has made it pretty clear that she’s too green in Hollywood to be snubbing Meryl Streep. Regardless of her rebellious comment, I can’t deny her beauty. <3
I’m a huge fan of the hit show New Girl which also makes me a huge fan of the timeless, Zooey Deschanel. Her sweet heart red dress was perfectly complimented with pearl accessories. To my surprise, she wasn’t wearing her staple red lip, which is another reason why I love her. Even if you are comfortable with your everyday style, sometimes you need to tone certain details down so you can play others up. A red lip with this red ball gown would have just been distracting. You’re such a little genius, Zooey.
Last year the big nail trend was to paint eight nails one main color and throw everyone off with painting two nails, one on each hand, an opposite color. Though we are still seeing this trend for spring, there is a new nail style that we find to be much more fun: nail art! Glamour’s June edition showcased Zooey Deschanel’s latest tuxedo manicure. If you’re not one to pay a little extra for a salon manicure, this is perfect for you. It’s very cute and very easy to do.
