Some in Hollywood believe nothing tastes as good as skinny feels, as Naomi Campbell once said, but we like to think there’s a limit to how skinny feels when you’re down to skin and bones. It has obviously become an obsession for celebrities to diet and work themselves down to their tiniest beach body size possible. We’ve all heard of the crazy diets out there like Demi Moore’s raw food diet, Reese Witherspoon’s baby food diet, Jennifer Lopez’s grapefruit oil diet, or Jennifer Aniston’s coconut diet – do Pina Colanda’s count?

While we long for some celebrity bodies, we can’t justify looking ill in a bikini as a fashion trend. When bikini bodies get to the point of unhealthy, we become concerned-and downright scared! Hopefully some celebrities will enjoy a Big Mac or two, or at least eat some extra protein to build back up to a healthy weight. We’re looking past the skin and bones literally, sometimes we miss the skinny celebs because they’re too small to see.

LeAnn Rimes

LeAnn Rimes has been raising some eyebrows lately with her shockingly slender physique. The country singer has been pictured with stick thin legs and overly exposed rib bones. This past weekend the paparazzi magnet celebrated her birthday in not one but three bikinis on the shores of California. LeAnn Rimes has bought our bikinis before and we’ve even blogged about it. LeAnn enjoyed many birthday cocktails under the sun in her itsy bitsy bikinis – and we’re hoping she’ll hold on to some of those calories!

We aren’t the only ones seeing celebrities slip away, UsWeekly has compiled their own list of Scary Skinny Bikini Bodies. These shrinking bodies are a growing issue – we think it’s time for a new food trend to hit Hollywood overnight!  First it was cupcakes, then frozen yogurt, maybe this time we can do mobile chocolate fountains? Here we’ve listed a few of UsWeekly’s top picks.

The Hollywood stylist spends all her time contemplating clothing and accessories for the rich and famous, so maybe Rachel has become part of their “thin and delicate” posse. As UsWeekly quotes the stylist once said, “truthfully, I’ve never seen myself as being too thin.” We’d like to tell Rachel she may be the only one who didn’t see herself as being too thin in this photo of her in a black triangle top bikini while vacationing in St. Bart’s. Although she gained some healthy weight during the birth of her son Skylar, she’s looking scarily skinny in this vacation photo- there’s obviously a reason she’s kept her long sarong on!

This mother of two was dramatically thin in 2006 after filming two seasons of The Simple Life during which she was criticized for being heavier than usual.  We wonder if her Simple Life co-star Paris Hilton had anything to do with the dramatic loss.  Nicole let the public know she understood her stick figure was scary and stated, as quoted by UsWeekly, “I know I’m too thin right now, so I wouldn’t want any young girl looking at me and saying, ‘That’s what I want to look life.’” In this beach side photo of Nicole, her bikini’s gold hardware detail is easily confused with a bone…yikes! Like Rachel Zoe, Nicole was able to gain some healthy weight with her pregnancies – we hope the two can keep their baby weight!

A Barbie-esque Tara Reid was spotted in Bali in 2007 with bleach blonde hair, overly tanned skin, and a super slim figure. The outspoken and certainly not camera shy Tara discussed her appearance saying, as quoted by UsWeekly, “There are bumps on it, it’s uneven, but it’s not that bad. I like a tanned stomach, so that’s why I’m going to keep wearing a bikini.” We don’t see any unusual lumps and bumps on her stomach – just those bones sticking out all over. The newlywed who married earlier this month in Greece shared some twit pics of her honeymoon, but no bikini pictures have surfaced. We’re eager to see if honeymoon Barbie has gained any weight – or if she’s let another surgery scar slip into the camera’s view!

This usually toned and buff actress has been criticized for her much slimmer figure. Kate who trained on a surfboard for hours upon hours for her role in the movie Blue Crush, now shows a different type of beach body. Photographed here in Malibu in 2008, Kate was quoted by UsWeekly saying, “Just being comfortable in my own skin, and with the body that I have, was nice.” Filling the sweet girl next door role in our Hollywood actresses line-up, Kate is often complimented on her fashion choices. While we love this bandeau swimsuit, we prefer her toned up Blue Crush body. We hope she can hop off the celebrity bandwagon of too thin ladies and this isn’t all for her fabulous fashion.

There’s nothing quite worse than a side-shot of ribcage and Claire Danes is offender number one! This photograph from her vacation in Italy in 2008 shows Claire in an itsy bitsy bikini with a skin and bones structure. With very little curves, Claire could easily hide behind any palm tree to be out of the paparazzi’s view. While she does a good job of keeping herself out of the press, we’re sad to see that this is her look which finally reached our gossip reading eyes!

Another starlet who’s familiar to weight rumors, Tori Spelling has been consistently criticized for her skinny body. The thin mother of two is expecting her third child in October. Along with the other mothers on this list, we hope she gains some healthy baby weight from this pregnancy. The 90210 star has been thin and was quoted by UsWeekly saying, “I’ve always weighed the same since I was 16. This is my weight and I’m not unhealthy.” We’re sure the actress is no stranger to pressure as we know from her tumultuous relationship with her mother, Candy Spelling, but her thin frame is frankly frightening.

Courtney Love

This crazy musician is no stranger to the rock star lifestyle – she’s suffered from drug abuse and addiction in the past. While we’re always entertained with Love’s crazy antics, we aren’t so much with her rail thin body- but we do love this rocker and pin-up inspired underwire swimsuit!  The rocker, seen here in Hawaii in 2007, has admitted her figure was too thin. As quoted by UsWeekly Courtney said, “I know I’ve gotten too skinny, I know I need to sort it out. I am going to put on 15 pounds… I want to get fatter. You k now, when I was 192 pounds, I thought I looked hot!” We admire Love’s acceptance of her weight issues.

There are several black swimsuit coverups that could work better for her body type, such as a tunic or coverup dress. Two good options are the Black Embroidered Tunic by Badgley Mischka Swimwear, or the Little Black dress by Betsey Johnson Swimwear.  Even though the black dress is smocked at the bust, perhaps the flowy bottom would work better than a sarong. But let’s give her something, at least black helps to conceal unflattering areas. It’s just that hers are all over lately.

Rachel, keep up the good work, but please eat a burger! We love you.
