With so many swimsuit styles out there, it can be intimidating to decide what style would be most flattering to your particular body. In a world where swimsuit models all seem to have the same body type, there are not many places to turn to see examples of how different swimsuit styles look on real women. Today, I want to help you find the suit that looks best on YOU.

If you have a small bust and are looking to give it an enhanced look (surgery free!), look no further. Triangle top bikinis push your bust to the forefront, and anything with padding will give you a little lift. Also, many suits come with molded cups, just to give you some extra oomph. Ruffling detail can also add the illusion of more going on than there really is.

What about if you are in the opposite predicament, and looking to tone down a voluptuous chest? I would actually suggest underwire to you, or some other type of support to keep you comfortable and under control. Halter swimsuits can offer a bit more coverage than other types of bikini tops. Also, many swimwear companies have suits specifically designed for women with larger chests (check out our D+ cup section), as swimwear designers realize that it can be hard for women with this body type to find swimwear that makes them feel comfortable. Next time you’re bikini shopping, just ask us which styles they have that cater to women with your body type.

What if you’ve recently had a baby, or lost a bunch of weight, and want to cover stretch marks or scars? Many women in this situation find it extremely challenging to find a swimsuit that they feel good in. Are you limited to a lifetime of boring one-pieces? Absolutely not! First of all, one pieces are back with a vengeance! There are many gorgeous one pieces out there these days that are sure to make you feel glamorous. My personal favorite is the Limitless One Piece. This suit’s beading, cut, and color will make you forget that you ever had doubts about finding a good one piece. However, if you’d like to show a little more skin, there are definitely options. Try a high-waisted midkini, or a tankini, which will cover the things you want covered, but still show some skin.

For women who feel they have a bit of a tummy, I would also suggest high-waisted bikinis. If you can find a good bikini top that will play up the upper half of your body, and a good high-waisted bottom that will cover your tummy, you’ll be all set. Also, prints can take away attention from your body and direct that attention towards the suit, regardless of the cut. But also, remember that most women think they have more of a tummy than they do.

Feeling short? At 5’3’’, so am I. But that’s ok, because I have a trick that can make your body look a little longer. Teeny bikinis, especially triangle top bikinis, show more skin, therefore making you seem a bit lengthier. Try it! From one shorty to another, it works.

For you tall girls, I’m jealous. But I will still help you find swimsuit that looks good on your body. You may want to try a one-piece with contrasting prints on top and bottom, to make the body look more broken up. Or you may want to try a bright two piece, to direct attention towards the separate areas of your body.

If you have a bigger backside, be proud! Celebrities like Beyonce and J. Lo have showed us that this is truly an asset. However, if you would prefer to tone your booty down, I would advise against boyshorts or high waisted bikinis, as this will only create more attention towards your backside. I would suggest an underwire cup top, to make your bottom half look balanced out by your top half.

Last, but certainly not least, is the athletic/stocky build. You may not naturally have curves, but there are definitely ways to create the illusion that you do! Choose feminine cuts, prints, and details to soften your look. This includes ruching detail, sweetheart neckline for bikini tops, and ruffles. Skirty bottoms and halter tops may also give you more of the silhouette you are going for.
At the end of the day, my best advice would be to go with the suit that you feel most comfortable in. We all have body hang ups, but our uniqueness makes us who we are. Embrace your body, and look for a suit that allows you to celebrate yourself!
