After five successful years online, we will be opening our first store location in South Beach, off of popular Collins Ave. This prime location features neighbors such as Armani Exchange, Adidas and DASH!.

Orchid Boutique on 8th St. in South Beach will feature our luxury swimwear, beachwear, and an expanded selection of accessories including bags, hats and jewelry.

Renovations are underway for the transformation of our newest venture. We’re excited to bring you some images of our location and the beginning stages of construction. Be sure to check back here every week for updates on the store’s progress.

Jordin Sparks and Kim Kardashian in Alexander McQueen

It’s a battle of the brunettes in this who wore it better between singer Jordin Sparks and reality show Kim Kardashian in a beyond gorgeous Alexander McQueen sheath dress. The newlywed, Kim Kardashian, paired her version with super pumped up nude heels – perhaps she’s trying to be closer to husband Kris Humphrie’s height? Kim also adorned her ensemble with a set of classy bangles. The youngest American Idol winner, Jordin Sparks, paired her Alexander McQueen with peep-toe nude heels and a single bangle bracelet. We love that both women chose to compliment their Alexander McQueen stunner with simple accessories to let the dress steal the show.

A classic white sheath dress can easily go unnoticed, but this Alexander McQueen design is definitely an eye-catcher. With intricate texture detailing, this dress brings elegance and sophistication to the monotone design. Seemingly inspired by blackwork embroidery, commonly known at Spanish work, this embroidered pattern includes geometrics and floral patterns connected by curvilinear stems. Blackwork embroidery often imitates etchings.

Pearl Casablanca Monokini by Sabz Swimwear

This arabesque-inspired trend is also present in designer swimwear, in styles like the Pearl Casablanca Monokini by Sabz Swimwear. This Spanish flavored monokini features soft built-in cups and a halter style at the top.  Beautiful detailing in shades of blue and yellow feature embroidery and beading and give that extra something to this white swimsuit . A keyhole cut-out at the center of the bodice includes a lace-up feature and tie bow. The sleek curvature of this suit’s center keyhole and side cut-outs helps elongate your torso.

The MTV Video Music Awards were just this Sunday. The VMAs is known for eyeballs being glued to the TV awaiting the latest fashion trends of what’s IN and what not to do. Our eyes were glued too! What popped out the most to us was the continuously over-topping whimsical Katy Perry. She’s constantly crossing limits of the just normal fashion wear making, & always exhibits her classic, bold, and fun statements in the fashion world. Katy made her red carpet entrance wearing Versace Atelier and was literally covered (by an umbrella) in pastels from head to toe! Not for the faint of heart, the pop singer wore a springy floral blue, pink and yellow paired with hot pink strappy Jimmy Choo sandals.

In addition to Katy’s style, she was honored at the VMAs for her talents. She took home three of the 10 awards, including video of the year for her amazing song “Firework.”

As Miami Swim Week 2012 progresses, we continue to see more and more amazing collections by luxury swimwear designers. A collection we had the pleasure of viewing this past weekend was Beach Bunny Swimwear, a Los Angeles based designer swimwear company created by Angela Chittenden. Beach Bunny was launched in 2004 with a California style and aesthetic – glamorous, playful, and relaxed. Their swimwear has been seen on the likes of Jennifer Lopez, Fergie, and Cindy Crawford, while also featured in People, Vogue, and InStyle magazine’s.

Their 2012 collection was absolutely gorgeous and stayed true to their aesthetic and brand, with the huge trends being embellishments and exquisite detailing. The designer also showcased the one and only swimwear bridal collection that knocked us off our feet. It featured shirring, jeweled embroidery, lace and even a swimsuit with a complete veil (major!).

The designer swimwear 2012 we’ve seen thus far has been unique and inspiring. Beach Bunny was definitely a highlight this week with their one of a kind bridal collection and detailed embroidery. We’re excited to update you on more of the trends and styles we see throughout Miami Swim Week!
