One of my top priorities when I go to the beach is how I am going to tame the mane. I have thick, curly hair, so I always need a hair plan when I’m heading to SOBE. Over the years, I’ve developed a couple of hair styles that work like a charm on the beach. Really, it just depends on my mood and what look I want to rock that day.
1 – If I’m feeling wild. I let my mane loose when I’m feeling proud of my curls. This is a rare feeling, but the best time to have it is when I’m going to the beach. There is no better place to feel like your curly hair is accepted than when you are surrounded by sand and salt water. If you have curly hair, you know the feeling of not being able to always wear your curls in everyday life. Forget about everyday life today. Embrace your inner wild woman.

2 – If I’m feeling girly. I’ll go with a side braid on my feminine days. Nothing fancy that I can’t redo on the beach, just a three piece braid. This is a fun look for me because as the wind blows, I get a natural, messy look. If you have bangs, I recommend bringing a bobby-pin to hold them back.
3 – If I’m feeling lazy. I am often feeling lazy. Curly confession: I’m a slave to my hair dryer and hot iron. Because of this, I don’t always want to ruin my hair style with nature. On these days I opt for a messy bun at the top of my head. The down side about these days is I can’t enjoy the water to its fullest. Instead I am battling every wave so that it doesn’t
wet my hair. My boyfriend hates going to the beach with me on these days ha ha.

If you don’t follow Lauren Conrad on Pinterest and you love braids, I highly suggest you do. The girl has been a braid guru (in my book) since she debuted her braided bangs on The Hills a couple of years ago. Now, her Pinterest board ‘Primp’ is full of different braided looks that I absolutely adore.
In the spirit of the loving her braids, I recently stumbled upon a video of her giving herself a loose, side fish braid and she made it look pretty doable. Here are the steps you need to follow for this look. After you study them, watch Lauren do it herself in the video below.
Step 1
Create a ponytail using a clear plastic rubber band and only wrap it around your hair once.
Step 2
Split the ponytail into two pieces instead of the three like you would normally do for a regular braid.
Step 3 – the tricky ...

Memorial Day marks the long awaited moment where all of the pools open up to the public for the summer. Very exciting! If you’re not pool ready yet, and don’t know where to begin, have no fear! The Orchid would never let you start the summer without a plan. Here are our five pool party tips you’ll need to survive this summer!
1. Protect Your Skin
We know being tan is almost everyone’s goal, but what’s more important: Protecting your skin from sun damage or glowing for a week? You’re supposed to say protecting your skin from the sun! Wrinkles are the last thing on every woman’s ‘want’ list, so make sure you stock up on a facial moisturizer that has SPF 15 and a sun block for your body that has at least 30 SPF. Not only are you not looking to turn into a leather bag for the summer, ...
