One of my top priorities when I go to the beach is how I am going to tame the mane. I have thick, curly hair, so I always need a hair plan when I’m heading to SOBE. Over the years, I’ve developed a couple of hair styles that work like a charm on the beach. Really, it just depends on my mood and what look I want to rock that day.
1 – If I’m feeling wild. I let my mane loose when I’m feeling proud of my curls. This is a rare feeling, but the best time to have it is when I’m going to the beach. There is no better place to feel like your curly hair is accepted than when you are surrounded by sand and salt water. If you have curly hair, you know the feeling of not being able to always wear your curls in everyday life. Forget about everyday life today. Embrace your inner wild woman.

2 – If I’m feeling girly. I’ll go with a side braid on my feminine days. Nothing fancy that I can’t redo on the beach, just a three piece braid. This is a fun look for me because as the wind blows, I get a natural, messy look. If you have bangs, I recommend bringing a bobby-pin to hold them back.
3 – If I’m feeling lazy. I am often feeling lazy. Curly confession: I’m a slave to my hair dryer and hot iron. Because of this, I don’t always want to ruin my hair style with nature. On these days I opt for a messy bun at the top of my head. The down side about these days is I can’t enjoy the water to its fullest. Instead I am battling every wave so that it doesn’t
wet my hair. My boyfriend hates going to the beach with me on these days ha ha.

I know – it seems obvious. But recently I went to Gay Pride weekend on Miami Beach and I was so grateful of my outfit choice. First of all, if it’s daylight and taking place on South Beach, I will be wearing a bikini as my undergarments without a doubt. It’s just a must to always to have the option of a quick dip in the ocean with our level of heat and humidity. But I’ll also be wearing a crochet cover up and sandals so my body can breathe. The ladies I was with did not plan as well as I did. They wore combat boots – do not ask me why. In Miami, once February is over you really can’t rock boots anymore. It’s just way too hot. They were also wearing thick cotton t-shirts that made them sweat profusely.
In order to avoid a sweat fest, ...

When I people watch on Miami Beach, I always notice the women here prefer Brazilian-cut bikinis over full coverage options. And for the most part, their butt always looks good in them. As a fellow tiny-bikini-bottom wearer myself, I am constantly thinking of ways to keep my booty in shape. It’s all about having your butt lifted enough to defy gravity, and minimizing the jiggle as much as possible. Let’s get that booty tight! Here are a couple of easy butt work outs that I live by.
Deadlifts – This work out is all about toning your butt. And girl, it is so easy! Stand straight and hold 3-5 pound dumbbells at arm’s length by your thighs. If you do not have dumbbells I find that canned food will give the same result. Keep your legs shoulder length apart with your knees slightly bent. While keeping your arms straight ...

Festival season is upon us! That means it’s time to whip out our comfortable chic ‘boho’ looks to make everyone aware we are all about peace and love. ;) While we aren’t as cool as our parents were, rocking out at Woodstock in flowy dresses, we have some pretty awesome times partying at today’s concerts. And… getting outfits for them!
So let’s think about this. We’re out all day in the sun, and then into the night with just one outfit. It obviously has to be cute, but you’re wearing this all day long. It needs to be comfortable enough to stand wearing for over 12 hours. I personally like to have something flowy in this kind of situation. Then add something a little revealing up top so you don’t get the ever-awful farmers tan. And there you have it, the perfect outfit ;)
Now, because everyone can’t wear the ...

With so many swimsuit styles out there, it can be intimidating to decide what style would be most flattering to your particular body. In a world where swimsuit models all seem to have the same body type, there are not many places to turn to see examples of how different swimsuit styles look on real women. Today, I want to help you find the suit that looks best on YOU.
If you have a small bust and are looking to give it an enhanced look (surgery free!), look no further. Triangle top bikinis push your bust to the forefront, and anything with padding will give you a little lift. Also, many suits come with molded cups, just to give you some extra oomph. Ruffling detail can also add the illusion of more going on than there really is.
What about if you are in the opposite predicament, and ...

Superficial or not, one of my top priorities during spring and summer is keeping up a sun-kissed color at all times. Living in Miami, if you’re not tan, you are assumed to be living under a rock. And let me tell you, I am never happy to be thought of as an “under a rock” resident. I make it a point to keep up my bikini bod and visit the beach at least once a month. But getting the best beach tan is about more than consistently laying on the sand. With all these things superficial, there are important procedures that have to be followed.
1 – Scrub that body. When you are getting ready for the beach, make sure you use a body scrub when you take a shower. That way you have gotten rid of flaky or dead skin that won’t help you pick up Mr. ...
