A bathing suit is an essential part of every woman’s wardrobe. It is the go-to item for destination weddings (and honeymoons), summer vacations, out of the cold winter getaways, and more. However, choosing the right bathing suit is a feat for most of us. Women’s bodies come in different shapes and sizes, with small tops and big bottoms, big tops and small bottoms, muffin tops, belly pouches, plump thighs, etc, etc.
We can all find something that’s wrong with our bodies. But, selecting the right bathing suit– regardless of your body type– can enhance your not-so-flattering minor imperfections. And, most importantly, it can give your beachwear a makeover. The first step to getting your swimsuit is finding one that is chic and trendy. A designer swimsuit store is the first place you should look.
So the question on many readers’ minds is, “how do I pair the right bathing suit with the right body”? These are some of our helpful tips:
For muffin tops – try going with a shirred bottom at the waistline. These bottoms do not cut into the skin but sit gently at the waist, visibly decreasing or eliminating the muffin top issue. Designers such as Vix and Sabz offer this trend.
For belly pouches – try going with a monokini that covers the belly button area. That way you can still be sexy while diffusing attention on the pouch. Another option is to go with a two piece with a high-waisted bottom. Our new designer, Marysia Swimwear, specializes in designer high-waisted swimsuits. Or you can check out this one from Agua Bendita.
For plump thighs – there is really no bathing suit that covers this, so we suggest trying a swimsuit cover-up that is knee-length. We have a wide assortment of cover-up dresses that can be worn for day or night.
For big tops, small bottoms (or vice versa) – try going with a two-piece bathing suit that is sold as separates, meaning you can purchase a different size for top and bottom. Designers such as Lady Lux Swimwear, Vix, and OndadeMar all offer these items.

other variants as to which suits is the right for each body type
thanks for the tips! i think i need a monokini maybe
there great try one
i think monokinis are a must-have, you just have to find the right one that fits you perfectly
like a glove so sexy
when you do find the right one, nothing looks better
Great tips, its soo importiant to know your body and what looks good on it. Thanks for the tips!
it’s the only way to get the perfect fit!
its hard though from a web site
i agree, but with these tips we’re a step closer
Separates are one of the best things since sliced bread! I always feel more confident in a suit that actually fits!
theres nothing worse than a suit thats too tight, too small or too big… gotta find the right one
agree try on is key
knowing your body and size is equally important
My problems is that I have a small bottom.. So what I do is, I go for baathing suits with ruffles in the back, or brazilian cut. The ruffles and small coverage makes your butt look much better! :p
I am all for that I too have a small bottom needs help
i have a samll bottom as well and the brazilian cut is what helps me the most
awren’t they revealing too
they aren’t as revealing as they make them seem
Love the ruffles! You can also go with a print on bottom and a solid on top! That seems to work.
Large breasts stay away from ruffles, yikes
i do this a lot too!
not me man have to keep them in proprotion
i meant the print on the bottom and solid on top
My problem usually is that I have a bigger chest, and a smaller butt. I had a hard time finding tops that covered as much as I wanted them to, but still be really cute! This website gives me the oppertunity to mix my sizes and of course keep the good style!
My problem is the belly, so i’m so glad that monokinis are so in this year- it answers all of my problems.
they’re a great option!! a love that as well
great remidies
there’s a solution to every problem
Thanks for the tips, they are really helpfull!
gotta love free tips!
theres lots to taker in
yeah but they are really helpfull, or at least i find them to be
Even though I have a larger chest and a somewhat large bottom, I still go for the Agua Benditas- they are just so colorful and attractive on the body, they take away attention from small imperfections.
nothing like a great fabric and details to take the edge of the imperfections
ya a monokin will do that 2
just on your tummy
The agua benditas are wonderful. This year they have really came out with a style for every type of body, i think its great!
As do I think its great, not sure about every body type though.
yeah me neither
to each their own i guess
haha for every body type if you’re a model probably
Buying different sizes for tops and bottoms definitly works. A while ago I had this issue and hated buying suits having a choice to choose sizes makes me more comfortable in a suit.
same thing here! i love choosing different sizes for tops and bottoms, makes me feel much more comfortable
ya you cna’t have one size thats my problem with the monokin 2
well, you can always choose a side tie monokini, that way the chances of it fitting are much better
I’ve found that the wider the neck straps are on the triangle tops, the better, though I’m not sure why. But this, paired with a brazilian bottom makes instantly look more curvy and my proportions seem to work better.
Good ideas, I would like to try the brazilian bottoms as well and the top straps makes sense
me too! would’ve never thought about the thick straps
its a better hold
yeah, more support i guess
I think it has someting to do with gravity! I like thicker straps too
they work much bettre for a larger chest
yeah, they give much better support
support is what we need
i agree! gravity is a b— lol
Even though I only get a few months of the year these suit are fabulous for sex appeal and I love their looks
yeah i agree! their looks are awesome and soo sexy
elegant and classy
always on the verge of new designs
Does anyone have wide hip? I do and string works great on me but any other suggestions.
I have wide hips, I usually go for something with hip embelishment, like jewles or a chain
i also have hips, and the ondademar and maaji bikinis are great because the fabric they use is special so you won’t get any lovehandles, they fit perfectly and make your hips look better
i haven’t tried these yet but need that
check them out! its something on the fabric
doesn’t that bring more attention to the hips
no, cause it eliminates the muffin top
thats a great thing
yeah, its the elastic free fabric or something like that
Great tips! All you need is a great fit and confidence, confidence, confidence!
haha nothing like confidence to make something look great
goes a long way eh
it does! confidence can make anything work
I tried the jewels and personally I find it uncomfortable when I sit..maybe Im just picky
i’m like that also, i only like them on the top
it would be a bit ackward i think
well they look nice, they finish the look… but they are uncomfortable
Yeah true, you just have to look some are pretty comfy. Someting like the Lady Lux
Tamale. Even a braid of material looks good.
i love the top part of that one!
Good point, I’ve never worn a suit that had huge rocks on it before, def. something to consider before buying!
yeah, unless you’re planning to wear it for a short period of time
yeah you get marks on your sides …if your on your side
not only if you’re on your side, if the bottom is even a little tight, not only do you get marks, but it hurts when you have it on
big indents and red marks if left to long
exactly! not pretty and not comfy
Ouch…no thank you. I’ll stick to my sequins and layers for that added bling!
i love sequins and ruffles!
absolutley love sequins
they add sparkle to anything
oh who couldn’t use some of these tips, thanks orchid boutique we thanks you for posting it
