STRING BIKINIS - WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW
String bikinis are sexy two-piece swimsuits that tie on the sides with strings. Unlike older designs, the new string bikini does not necessarily come with a standard triangle top that ties at the neck and back. More recent designer string bikinis offer halter, bandeau, or v-neck styles for the top with a string bottom.
Older string bikini designs were usually made of elastic strings sewn onto the fabric which would stretch when tied. The tension from the strings would often cause bulges in women’s “love handle” area, which in turn resulted in an unflattering look. Even women with rock hard abs at times had trouble with string bikinis because if they wore it too lose the bikini would ride down, and when tightening the side strings they would create the dreaded muffin top.
The beauty of the sexy string bikinis at The Orchid Boutique is that the ties at the side are made especially for an anti-love handle fit. The secret, described in detail in our blog article The New String Bikini, has to do with the removal of the tight elastic in favor of an elastric-free string made of superior nylon spandex fabric, commonly used by couture swimwear designers.
For women with more modest taste, new string bottoms have been created with thicker side ties for a bit more coverage and also to reduce love handle protuberances. The thicker the strings are, the less tension in the hip area, resulting in a better fit.
Due to their sexy style, string bikinis are often confused with g-string bikinis or thongs which in fact are very different than regular string bikini bottoms. In actuality, string bikinis are available in a variety of bottoms, from brazilian to moderate, and even full coverages. We recommend OndadeMar swimwear for moderate to full coverage string bikinis and Sabz for moderate to brazilian cut string bikinis. Some examples of our sexy string bikinis:
String bikinis are perfect for the beach and fun in the sun. Apart from being deemed as hot by members of the opposite sex, string bikinis have the benefit of being adjusted to your comfort level in the hip are instead of having to wear a standard bottom that might be too tight or loose for you. Oddly enough, we find that string bikinis tend to fit more women than other bikini styles.
Another good thing about string bikinis is that they do not need to tie at the sides to be considered a string bottom. The string can be merely decorative.
In the case of some hipster style bikinis the strings tie to the side and result in a sexy pinup girl look.
Of course we also favor the more unique string bikinis with couture design such as this Agua Bendita swimsuits:
In sum, string bikinis are a must-have beach accessory with a distinct versatility in their design and fit. Look for our hot string bikinis in our Designer Bikinis section.
